Can a fan the size of a dinner plate really push air 7 metres across your living room? That's what Honeywell claims with their TurboForce Power Fan, and frankly, I was sceptical. At £28.99, it's competing against tower fans that cost twice as much and look far more impressive on your sideboard.
But sometimes the scrappy little underdog surprises you. After digging into the specs and reading through customer feedback, I've found this compact fan punches well above its weight class. The question is whether its old-school approach to cooling still makes sense in 2024.
The Honeywell HT900E measures just 25cm across, but its aerodynamic design focuses on one thing: moving air efficiently rather than looking pretty. The curved grille and blade angle create what Honeywell calls 'focused airflow' — essentially a concentrated stream rather than the gentle waft you get from most desk fans.
That 7-metre claim isn't as mad as it sounds. I've cross-referenced independent airflow tests, and whilst the breeze obviously weakens with distance, you can genuinely feel it across a medium-sized room on the highest setting. Compare that to decorative tower fans that barely reach the other end of your sofa.
The speed settings are properly distinct — no pointless increments between 'barely there' and 'slightly less barely there'. Speed one is whisper-quiet for nighttime use, speed two covers most daily cooling needs, and speed three brings the proper grunt when you're sweltering.

The 90-degree tilt is brilliant for directing airflow exactly where you need it. Ceiling bounce, under-desk circulation, or straight at your face whilst working — the sturdy adjustment mechanism holds whatever angle you set. I've read countless Amazon reviews mentioning how this simple feature makes all the difference compared to fixed-angle fans.
Here's where the HT900E gets clever. The rear mounting points let you wall-mount it without looking like you've stuck a desk fan to your wall with gaffer tape. It's compact enough for kitchen worktops, powerful enough for bedroom cooling, and quiet enough for office use without annoying your colleagues.
The table base is pleasantly weighty — no plastic wobble when the fan's working hard. After reading through user experiences, it's clear this stability matters more than you'd think, especially on higher speeds.
Honeywell's 'quiet operation' claim holds up, but with caveats. On speed one, it's genuinely silent enough for bedside use. Speed two introduces a gentle hum that most people find acceptable. Speed three? Well, you'll know it's there, but it's still quieter than most tower fans working flat out.

What impressed me most in customer feedback is how few people complain about irritating rattles or vibrations developing over time. That suggests decent build quality for the price point.
Let's be honest — this isn't winning any design awards. The black plastic construction screams 'functional' rather than 'stylish'. If you're after something that complements your carefully curated living space, look elsewhere.
The power cable is also frustratingly short at roughly 1.8 metres. Fine for desk use, but you'll need an extension lead for many room positions. Given how much thought went into the mounting options, this feels like an oversight.
The Honeywell TurboForce HT900E does exactly what it says on the tin — moves air efficiently without fuss or fanfare. At £29, it's brilliant value for anyone prioritising performance over aesthetics. Skip it if you want something decorative for your living room.
